CS22 3D Modeling Assignment
Spring, 2025
Software used: Autodesk Maya
Interior Environment
For this assignment, we were asked to design and model a custom interior space from scratch, learning the fundamentals of solid modeling, UV texturing, lighting, and rendering. The goal was to tell a story through the design and details of the environment, building a scene that reflects our personal vision and aesthetics.
Project Description
For my space, I was inspired by brutalist architecture and the quiet intimacy of sound-listening bars. I designed a two-level interior that features concrete, metal, and glass materials. The layout includes two separate seating areas that encourage conversation and listening, along with a lofted upper level that adds depth to the space. The use of cool, raw textures and minimal lighting was intentional to evoke a calm, immersive atmosphere.
Botanical Boundaries
Spring, 2025
Software Used: Rhino3D, Rayon, Autodesk Maya, AutoCAD
Assignment Overview
This project explores the relationship between art and architecture through the design of an artist’s atelier that serves as both a living and working space. The goal was to create a space that reflects the artistic themes of a chosen contemporary artist, while addressing functionality, spatial organization, and aesthetics.
Project Concept
"Botanical Boundaries" is a live-work atelier designed in response to the practices of Ana Teresa Barboza and Liam Lee, both of whom explore the intersection of nature, space, and the body. The design emphasizes open space, natural light, and a strong connection to the surrounding environment. Large windows blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, making nature a constant source of inspiration.
The upper floor functions as a flexible studio and observation space, while open areas throughout the atelier support both private reflection and public exhibition. The design balances immersion in nature with year-round livability, reflecting the artists' shared interest in organic forms, texture, and ecological harmony.
